Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation and Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance
This report presents research that was conducted with Agricultural Advisory Committees (AACs) within the Greenbelt/Golden Horseshoe (Durham, Halton, Niagara, Peel, and York Regions and the City of Hamilton).
The goal of this research is to understand the role of regional AACs, including their value, challenges, and successes. This report reviews the structure of AACs, their mandates, membership, and general experiences. Throughout the report, lessons will be provided based on the experiences of Committee members, with specific regional examples highlighted. These lessons are applicable to AACs within the Golden Horseshoe; however, the lessons presented here are also applicable across the province and can be utilized by existing AACs, as well as regions/counties interested in establishing an AAC.
